Anna Skating

Anna is practicing for a test this Friday. If she passes it, she will be at the Preliminary Level and if she passes that, she'll be allowed to apply to be an "ice sweeper" (which means she'd be one of those little girls that gets to run out on the ice and pick up all the toys and flowers people throw at skaters after their performance) at Quicken Loans Arena during the U S Figure Skating Championships being held in January next year. It makes me crazy to watch her at practice because she tends to be sloppy... Put the kid in a pressure situation like a competition or test though, and she brings her A-game every time. Anyway, this was taken at 6:30 this morning and you can at least see her progress. I'll video her this weekend and post her actual performance so you can see the difference.

She's such a cutie.

Ok, I just opened my blog and watched this thing. I don't know who all those other skaters are that pop up at the end. I'm an idiot with html, and I'm sure there's a way to edit my video to not have all that stuff come up, but yanno what? I don't care. Don't watch them if you don't want to see them. What ever.

...and obviously, I'll never have a career as a photographer.

How do that just not run into each other out there..I held my breath a couple times.
SO OMG..she's like a little Dorothy Hammil.. those spins..and jumps..WOW. Very exciting stuff..is the Olympics her goal? or is she doing this because she loves it?

lol mp, I don't know how those kids don't slam into each other either, it's hard to watch sometimes. She wants to go as far as she can go, wherever it takes her.

Aww... I recognize all those compulsories. LLB was doing those when she stopped skating a couple of years ago.
I also recognize the "not so perfect" positions that we chalk up to sloppiness that will disappear during the competition/testing. It's amazing - isn't it?? They just crank it up a notch...

Anna is going to do great!
Give her a big hug and wish her luck for us. We can't wait to see the actual performance.

Wow!! does she practice every day. I don't think my son could be dedicated enough to do ANYTHING every day. the dork ass.

that really is impressive. really.

grrrrrr...I can't see it!!! But I did want to know where that is held, my good friends daughter also skates and might very well be there.

Very graceful. Best of luck with the competition!

damn, if that's sloppy the video from the real thing should be something spectacular :)

i couldn never attain that amount of grace, even when i was a gymnast at school i was still all elbows lol.

best of luck Anna :)

Is it sloppiness or just her keeping one eye out for the other skaters? I tend to get "lost" in my work so maybe she's the same way and didn't want to smash into anyone.

I totally cannot wait to see her performance vid!

I don't call that sloppy. Wow. Can't wait to see the unsloppy.

You see, I'm such a cheap ass that all I could think about was how much the ice time costs.

It all looked great to me, though. I can barely go 5 feet without falling over
